That's why I didn't bought and PS3 Slim -.- I'd pay 20$/month but I get an quality gameplay and the Xbox360 owners get the map packs/games(most of 'em) faster than PC or PS3 owners

PostSubject: Re: PSN network hacked?!   Wed Apr 27, 2011 6:37 pm

so people i have been revising any new news about the psn and found this

"First of all, I’m sorry for my bad english:

Here you have my conversation with Sony’s customer care, after seeing some little movements of Netflix in my credit card.
Me: Hey guys, I call the as an informant of the blog Pulpofrito to say that somebody have tried to make a Netflix charges on my credit card derivative it of the psn problem
SAC Sony: Is impossible, they do not have any data as the central Sony has reported us
ME: I have called my bank's headquarters, so it is possible
SAC Sony: Thanks for the warning then, we are taking note. Please lock your card and all your passwords.
Me: I guess I thank you and goodbye, no?
SAC Sony: Unfortunately we do not have more information.

Everyone, call to your bank and ask for your cards to be blocked and also ask for the receipts just in case you have to make an inquiry for fraudulent movements or data mining problems."

I take this declaration from a Spanish page dedicated to videogames news, here is the link if you wanna see the article http://pulpofrito.com/16777/
Dont know if this is declaration is true, or its just a fool that wanna get fame from this problem and create more conflict.

(maybe i modified a little bit of the declaration but just to make it more understandable) :3

Aren't passwords stored as hash keys now? Like, in the databases, aren't/shouldn't they stored as hash keys?

Do you think that the FBI or/and the Interpol are investigating this case, dont know but if they are in i would like that they arrest all those bad hackers and make them pay for this "cyber-terrorism action"... Twisted Evil

Unless there really is money or fraud involved, I doubt it.

At least the FBI is, they stated that the brought in law enforcement and the only ones that really investigate cyber attacks are the FBI/CIA. Interpol might get involved in the track down who it was that did the attacks if they aren't in the US.

Actually, in their archives it doesn't show up as a bunch of asterisks.

And they didn't actually say that they don't have your credit card details, they said it's possible that they do.

You're right, but they SHOULD be encrypted, right? I mean, if internet explorer -the most unsecure program ever- manages to encrypt your passwords, I see no reason why Sony couldnt lol. So even if the hackers managed to get that information, they still have to decrypt it, no? I bet thats pretty hard

Maybe Sony should use Paypal lol.

I'm excited how Sony will deal with the subscriptions like PS+. Either that add the time lost or they give money back. I payed for three months :/

The only thing encrypted was the credit card info, according to Sony.

But, that's just a bunch of bull, because many people have already stated on other forums that they've had suspicious charges on their accounts after PSN went down.

Also, if a hacker could break into a major corporation, shut down their network, and steal an incredible amount of private info, how likely is it that they wouldn't break the encryption?

PigMazurka is 100% right. If the hacker got this far, it is very likely he was able to break the encryption. Sony is just trying to do PR Damage Control. I too have heard random charges and money request charges on their account.
