PostSubject: Running Battlefield 3   Thu Jul 18, 2013 10:44 am

Hey everyone. My uncle yesterday was running some tests on my PC yesterday, such as performance, clean-up, etc. and was looking at my system specifications. He said that I was able to run Battlefield 3 at minimum settings. After checking at, he was right! I am able to run Battlefield 3 at minimum settings, but there was one issue.

Whereas you need 512 MB dedicated to your video card, I only have 256 MB; only half. But there is a possible way to increase it. I was just wondering if anyone knows how, and if there is an impact in terms of performance, stability, etc. of my PC. I believe it might be through rebooting my PC, but I'm not completely sure.

You can overclock the GPU. This will increase the GPU's performance but the downside is that it can overheat much easier. Same can be said for the CPU.

You can change your graphics card , thats one solution , or you could overclock your cpu like what goatreconFS said , and just add fans , but i would recommend changing your graphics card since u will need a new one if you wanna play the next generation games such as battlefield 4/COD ghosts and other high-end games.

PS:Can you list your current Graphics card , Processor and ram?

Is it a laptop or a desktop pc? if its the former then there's not much you can do upgrade wise. You'll have to buy a better one or better, build a nice gaming rig. I've put together one on newegg for less than 800 bucks for when I eventually decide to make one Very Happy.

Specification:
• ATI Radeon 4270
• AMD Dual-Core Athlon II 2.9 GHz
• 700 GB Hard Drive Space
• 4 GB RAM
• Windows 7 64-Bit OS

The only issue when I was running the test was the dedicated video card memory. This is a desktop PC. In addition, my uncle found a built rig that can run Battlefield 4 for only $700; so there would be no need to buy a new GPU when I'm saving up for a new PC. I'm just trying to run Battlefield 3 to play with the current members now, and then when I get my paycheck from work and from my research, I'll buy the new PC.

In this case, if I do double the video card memory, is there any other solutions than fans? I don't have much space on my desktop.

[EDIT:]
The computer I plan on buying has the following specification:

• ATI Radeon 7570
• AMD 6-Core FX-6200 3.8 GHz
• 1.5 TB Hard Drive Space
• 10 GB RAM
• Windows 8 64-Bit OS

This is a good build for you. Also, dont go with windows 8, most games doesnt support windows 8 YET!

And overclocking will only help abit, increasing Memory is not possible. only if you are crazy enough to open the card and add some extra memory modules Razz

Games that don't "support" it still run perfectly fine on W8 systems, BTW.

Your guys' builds are epic , but the one he posted is a better one since he can get 6-cores Processor and 10 GB Ram , I find his build one of the most unique builds and might consider getting one Smile

Thank you. My uncle and I went through extensive research to get an effective build. He chose the GPU, and I chose the CPU, and viola, my soon-to-be rig.
