After Syria shot some shells at rebels they also hit a village in Turkey. Turkey therefore shot some shells back and now there is a emergency NATO meeting at Brussels. What do you guys think about this?
I say Syria has gone too far with this one (earlier they shot a Turkish jet down killing the 2 pilots, and syrian soldiers shot at pilgrims travelling through Syria).

I think they both need to be very careful.

The Syrians have no right to fire into Turkey, however I doubt they are aiming to hit Turkey. I believe Turkey had a right to fire back as long as they were targeting the government troops, not the rebels. This doesn't mean I support either faction, it's just they have to fire at a target, not indiscriminately. Also, they had a right to fire back, I don't think they should have however. They should have issued one last warning that any more shells landing in Turkey would not be acceptable, and if there were, it would be met with retaliation.

Kinda sounds like warmongering but Turkey needs to protect itself AS LONG AS it fires at a target like I said earlier.

I would be very reluctant about any sort of intervention from the US, UK or other countries. British provided jets in Libya, which I think was wrong anyway. We shouldn't be supporting rebellions, it is declaring war in disguise I think. We have no right to intervene, it wasn't putting and this isn't putting our security at risk. The only way that Libya put us at risk was if they would attack us, in which case we should have declared war. It almost feels like we're forcing democracy on these countries sometimes.

That said, I hope the rebellion in Syria is successful, not because I am necessarily against dictatorship, but because the Syrian government has not shown any interest in whether they hurt civilians, and haven't listened to any ceasefire agreements. There needs to be a ceasefire, stability and then establish an election or put someone in power.

Isn't that the point of democracy. It's not democracy if you say'elect anyone you want, as long as it's not him'

Well, according to BBC news (which really like those "free" army guys), those shells was fired by Syrian government forces. But they don't give any proof Smile

I'm not saying that, just saying that the country could be worse after the change of power than they were before.
